We custom build paddles for all paddle sports with solid designs and good local customer service.

Our paddles are super-reliable and have been proven at a world level in extreme environments across a range of paddle sports, including freestyle kayaking, sea kayaking, white water river running, rafting, stand-up paddle boarding (SUP) and canoeing.

History of Rochfort Paddles

Rochfort Paddles was founded by Grant Rochfort. Grant was an accomplished slalom and rodeo paddler and Kayak I instructor for a number of years. Grant made paddles that were popular throughout NZ and were also being exported overseas. Sadly, Grant passed away in June 2002.

Donald Calder purchased the business in 2002 after the death of Grant Rochfort. Donald worked in the kayak industry for more than 20 years, including owning and running Sunspots Kayak Shop in Mourea, Rotorua from 1994 - 2007.

In 2007, Rochfort Paddles changed hands and is now owned and operated by Shane O’Driscoll. Shane continues to hand-make these well-crafted paddles and works to make continuous improvement where possible.
